Treading Water

SYNOPSIS:

A body has been found on the beach.  As the regulars arrive for their morning beach ritual they are confronted by police tape.  All suspect that the body is that of troubled teenage girl, Sam, who for the past few weeks, despite warnings, has been camping out on the beach alone.  Through a series of flashbacks and present-day action at the crime scene we learn her story.

Sam lied to her parents and skipped school camp. She’s trying to reconcile why she did nothing when a friend at school, is the target of a cruel series of cyber shaming. At the beach, she meets Jen, a girl who is mixed up with the wrong group and headed down an all too familiar and dangerous path. Tensions escalate and Sam is forced to confront a menacing world that she was trying so desperately to escape.
